Biggest X factor now is the local winds. Don't think Chopes likes fresh E/SE winds does it?

not too sure about the wind direction, but there looks to be a low trying to form to the east of the island a couple of days into the contest... could stuff it!?!

Either way there should be no shortage of swell.

Hi guys, yes there will be no shortage of swell but it's not looking anywhere near as good as it was last week.

That low east of NZ will expel most of its energy towards the North Island and Fiji, then by the time it swings around towards Tahiti it will be much weaker.

We'll provide an update later today on the outlook.

And Chopes can handle an E/SE wind.

E/NE is perfect I'm pretty sure but.

How's the length of the fetch on the bottom flank of that crazy 1040hPa Tasman high in the latest EC 168hr chart!!!

Shame it's aimed slightly outside of Chopes great circle path, otherwise it would be an insane swell for them.
