Shark Repellant? Anybody?

2015 - The Year of The Shark

Sharks hunt with their sense of smell. Could we not turn this form of attack into our defence by developing a substance that aromatically deters sharks from approaching?

Does anyone know anything about research and development concerning this approach?

rotting shark smell deters sharks and there has been a lt of research in this department in recent years.

This conversion gives me an idea! The Day before a surf, take a trip to Chinatown in Sydney, buy a couple of KG's of shark powder, hit the Mercantile pub, down 10 pints of Guinness along with shark powder.
Go surfing next morning (Don't wear a wetsuit)
