You have some good pics there. A few look a bit out of focus which could be the camera struggling in glary conditions or the lens not keeping up with servo focus. (what lens were you using here?)
I used to have the 1000D and it is pretty capable in good light, although the 3 frames per second can be a bit limiting for surfing pics. ;)
Some of my favourite landscape pictures have ceom from the 1000D and 10-22mm which goes to show that equiptment isnt everything.
