Victoria Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 7th April)
Best Days: Tuesday-Friday at exposed locations
Recap
Friday's swell backed off through the weekend but conditions were only favourable in selected spots with a fresh and gusty E/SE breeze. Sunday started slow with a smaller swell and persistent E/SE winds, but a late kick in size was seen during the day and this has peaked this morning. The Surf Coast saw inconsistent 3-4ft waves, with 6ft sets on the Mornington Peninsula under more favourable NE winds.
We should see the swell easing slowly during the day as winds more E/NE.
This week (Apr 7 - 11)
Unfortunately there's nothing major on the cards for this week with today's SW groundswell expected to ease slowly over the coming days. Winds will be favourable for exposed spots across the state though with offshore winds generally from the NE so do a bit of searching and you should fair well.
There is a slight increase in SW groundswell due on Thursday afternoon/Friday but this will just prevent the Surf Coast from going flat while keeping the Mornington Peninsula ticking over in the 2-3ft range.
This weekend onwards ( Apr 12 onwards)
Unfortunately the weekend will remain small to tiny and with W/NW winds on Saturday there'll be nowhere to really surf.
Longer term the outlook is uncertain with the models diverging regarding the formation of a low in the Tasman Sea and a deepening surface trough near Western Australia, so check back here on Wednesday for the latest update.
