Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Friday 11th April)
Best Days: Wednesday
Recap
A tiny lift in swell was seen yesterday with good winds for more exposed coasts rather than Clifton.
Today though a trough/front moving across the region has brought strong onshores and a building S/SE windswell.
This weekend (Apr 12 - 13)
The system responsible for today's increase in windswell will move up the East Coast and combine with a deepening Tasman Low, with a drop in windswell due tomorrow from a junky 2ft as winds swing around to the E/NE.
Come Sunday no real swell is expected to be left but conditions will be ideal for beginners with a N/NW tending W/NW breeze.
Next week onwards (Apr 14 onwards)
A couple of good pulses of SW groundswell are due next week as a mid-latitude low dips from WA down towards the polar shelf over the weekend, aiming a fetch of W/SW gales through our swell window. Behind this a secondary polar system will fire up generating a secondary SW groundswell for Wednesday morning after late Monday/Tuesday's pulse.
Size wise we're looking at 2ft+ across Clifton but winds will be unfavourable and from the S/SW Monday evening and Tuesday morning, with better N/NE winds Wednesday.
Longer term some good W/SW groundswell is on the cards for the Easter Long Weekend but with it being generated more in our western swell window, size will be a bit limited. We'll see how this all plays out again on Monday though.
