Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 25th April)
Best Days: Sunday afternoon and Monday morning at south swell magnets
Recap
The surf remained flat yesterday, while today may have seen a tiny wave at south swell magnets, but the rest of the coast remained flat.
This weekend (Apr 26 - 27)
A small spike in N/NE windswell due tomorrow across the coast will probably be gone by first light as the strong northerly ridge pushing down the coast moves away from us just before dawn. Check north-east swell magnets early for any chance of a wave.
A good pulse of S'ly groundswell due later Sunday and Monday morning across the state has unfortunately been downgraded, with the stalling frontal system pushing across us Saturday evening now expected to race off towards New Zealand.
We should still see some S'ly swell as the front pushes past the coast Saturday evening, reaching 2ft at south facing beaches and winds should improve, swinging from W/SW to NW (variable) during the day.
A small reinforcing S'ly groundswell is due on Monday morning, but again, not above 2ft at south swell magnets before easing during the day. Winds will strengthen from the N'th, creating clean conditions while also kicking up a small N/NE windswell through Tuesday afternoon as they strengthen further.
This N/NE windswell isn't expected to get above 2ft+ at north-east swell magnets and with poor winds.
Longer term there's still nothing major on the cards, but check back here on Monday for another update.
