Northern NSW and South East Queensland Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 11th November)
Best Days: Thursday morning, Friday morning
Recap
Saturday saw average conditions with strengthening N/NE winds and plenty of NE wind peaks pushing down the coast. Sunday started out similar with N'ly winds and a NE windswell, but a shallow S/SE change moved up the coast creating poor conditions.
This morning S/SE swell was hitting the Mid North Coast but failing to make much impact further north above 2ft.
This week (Nov 11-15)
This will produce fun levels of NE swell over the coming days, but winds will be average and accordingly moderate to fresh from the N/NW tending N/NE.
Thursday morning looks to offer the cleanest conditions and most amount of NE swell with a light offshore W/NW breeze. Come Friday the NE swell will be replaced by a small fun E/SE swell generated by a fetch of winds exiting New Zealand's Cook Strait (pictured right).
This weekend and beyond (Nov 16 onwards)
Background E'ly swell energy should keep fun small waves hitting both regions through the weekend ahead of more interesting developments next week. We may see an inland surface trough moving offshore and feeding off some tropical instability resulting in the formation of a Tasman Low off our coasts. We'll run through this in more detail on Wednesday though.
