Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 20th November)
Best Days: Saturday morning, Sunday morning, Monday morning
Recap
A small NE windswell pushed down the coast yesterday with OK winds, while today the onshores were in with a mix of S/SE windswell and leftover NE swell.
A building E/NE storm swell is expected over the coming days as a deepening low pressure system stalls across Bass Strait aiming a fetch of strong E/NE winds into us (pictured right). There'll be nowhere to really surf though with strengthening E/SE winds Thursday and easing E/NE winds Friday.
This weekend (Nov 23-24)
Saturday and Sunday will offer the best waves as the E/NE swell slowly eases due to the low moving a touch south out of our swell window allowing winds to swing locally offshore each morning. So hit up your favourite reef or beach for fun waves Saturday and more so Sunday.
The low is expected to move back to the east early next week and with it we'll see a fetch of strong to gale-force SE winds aimed through our swell window. This will kick up medium to large levels of SE swell with winds becoming poor as the system slides north up past our coast. Monday morning will offer the best conditions with protected locations worth a look on Tuesday.
