Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 20th November)
Best Days: Saturday, Sunday - Tuesday in protected spots, Monday
Recap
Yesterday saw average waves with a small swell while today a stronger E/NE swell has started to fill in, coming in at 3ft this morning under variable winds. The swell should of held a similar size this afternoon with winds swinging to the SE.
This weekend (Nov 23-24)
Today's E/NE swell will drop back a touch into tomorrow but remain a good 3ft across open beaches, generated by a broad fetch of E/NE winds through the Tasman Sea today and this evening.
A large and stormy increase in S'ly swell is due Sunday though as a broad low sitting over us starts drifting back to the east and deepening. As this system moves into our swell window a fetch of gale to severe-gale S/SE winds will be generating right off our coast (pictured right), kicking a large stormy S/SE swell Sunday.
Strong S'ly winds will leave protected bays and points with the cleanest and best waves but expect much less size here.
Longer Term (Nov 25 onwards)
The low will move north through Monday and Tuesday resulting in a drop in SE swell as winds slowly improve. So hit up protected spots while winds persist from the south and more exposed beaches into Wednesday.
There's nothing major on the cards longer term so make the most of the coming period of waves.
