Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 29th November)
Best Days: Saturday morning, Sunday morning, Monday afternoon, Tuesday
Recap
A small mix of SE and NE swell broke across the coast yesterday morning with light winds and clean conditions. Today a fresh S'ly swell has sprung up across the coast linked to a strong change pushing through early this morning. The swell should ease into this afternoon ahead of a new pulse tomorrow.
While today's change right off the coast kicked up a pulse of swell this morning, a broader and more favourably aligned system is forecast to push north past us this afternoon and evening (pictured right).
This should generate a secondary pulse of S'ly swell tomorrow to 2-3ft at open beaches and 3-4ft at south swell magnets. A drop in size is then expected later in the afternoon and further Sunday.
Winds will swing SW tomorrow morning and variable into the afternoon, while early NW winds are expected Sunday morning favouring swell magnets.
Longer term (Dec 2 onwards)
NE windswell will take the place of the S'ly swell Monday as winds swing offshore later in the day, with smaller cleaner levels of NE windswell expected Tuesday.
The outlook for later next week is a little more interesting with a possible increase in stormy SE swell but we'll review this Monday.
