South Australian Forecast (issued Friday 6th December)
Best Days: Saturday morning, early Sunday, Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning, Thursday morning, Friday morning
Recap
A semi-stormy 2ft+ of swell developed across the Mid Coast yesterday but with fresh onshore winds, while the South Coast saw a stormy S/SW swell building with stronger onshore winds.
Both coasts have seen a drop in size today with the front moving off to the east, and winds are lighter across the region creating cleaner but lumpy fun waves.
Wave heights will continue to ease into tomorrow in the wake of yesterday's front and exposed beaches on the South Coast will offer great waves with an offshore N/NE wind during the morning.
A small S/SW groundswell will keep fun waves hitting exposed spots, but a strengthening N/NW wind will create tricky and average conditions ahead of an afternoon S/SW change.
Next week (Dec 9 onwards)
We're finally looking at an active period of waves next week as an amplification of the Long Wave Trough (above right) moves across us and stalls through next week. This will aim a fetch of polar fronts (right) up from the south-west of WA through our swell window through all of next week.
Winds will be generally from the W/NW across the South Coast each morning ahead of onshores into the afternoon. This will favour Middleton and protected locations closer to Victor.
The Mid Coast should see fun waves developing also, building to 2ft Tuesday and peaking around 2ft to occasionally 3ft on Wednesday (above our model forecasts). Onshore winds will create average conditions though with lighter winds into Thursday as the swell eases.
