South Australian Forecast (issued Monday 9th December)
Best Days: Early morning in protected locations across the South Coast up until the weekend
Recap
The weekend started off fun with a small clean swell across the South Coast and offshore N/NE winds. Winds tended variable into the afternoon ahead of late sea breezes creating a near full fun day of waves.
Yesterday saw smaller leftovers with a morning offshore but this gave way to a S/SW change just after lunch.
Today a building SW groundswell is being seen on the South Coast while the Mid started out tiny, but has since increased to a choppy 2ft with fresh onshore winds.
This week and weekend (Dec 9 – 13 onwards)
A strong increase in SW groundswell is expected across the South Coast tomorrow generated by a vigorous cold front that's currently pushing up towards the state (pictured right). A peak in size is expected tomorrow afternoon to 3-5ft across Middleton with larger sets out at Waits and 2ft+ on the Mid Coast (above model forecasts).
The swell will then drop away through Wednesday and further Thursday, coming in under model forecasts across the South Coast through this period ahead of a new S/SW swells Friday and into the weekend.
The Mid will miss most of this S/SW swell and hover around the 1ft mark.
Winds for the most part will be good the South Coast each morning and from the W/NW, but come the weekend light onshore winds are expected Saturday and Sunday, although not too detrimental to the surf.
The longer term outlook is average with easing swells into next week and average S'ly winds, therefore make the most of the coming week of waves!
