Victoria Forecast (issued Monday 16th December)
Best Days: Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning at exposed spots. Thursday morning
Recap
A medium sized SW groundswell filled in over the weekend offering fun 3-4ft waves across the Surf Coast with larger 5-6ft waves on the Mornington Peninsula, but conditions were only favourable around Torquay with a morning W'ly wind.
The swell peaked during the afternoon before easing a touch through Sunday and slightly further today. Winds were again best around Torquay, while this morning light to moderate onshore winds were getting into everywhere.
This week (Dec 17 - 20)
I hope you made the most of the recent run of swell as we're headed for another average period of waves.
A slight kick in swell is due Thursday morning as a new SW groundswell arrives, generated by a polar front skirting through our swell window today and tomorrow (pictured right). This should kick up a small 2ft across the Surf Coast with 3-4ft sets on the Mornington Peninsula before easing into the afternoon.
Winds Thursday will be favourable for both regions with morning offshores and hot weather ahead of a variable breeze into the afternoon.
This weekend (Dec 21 onwards)
The weekend is looking average with a surface trough expected to move in later in the week bringing a fresh S/SW change Saturday which will kick up a low quality increase in windswell which should then be replaced by a small SW groundswell Sunday. Winds will be poor though and from the S/SW Saturday and E/SE Sunday.
Looking longer term there's nothing too major on the charts besides a small to moderate increase in SW groundswell Christmas Day/Boxing Day. We'll review this again on Wednesday though.
