Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 18th November)
Best Days: Friday morning for desperate surfers
Recap
The coast has remained tiny to flat the last couple of days but there's a small bit of action on the way.
This week and weekend (Dec 19 - 22)
Winds tomorrow will be average, but an early offshore W'ly is expected Friday morning ahead of a gusty S/SE change as a surface trough moves in from the west.
This change will kick up a low quality S/SE windswell for later Friday, peaking early Saturday to a junky 2ft to nearly 3ft at south swell magnets. Conditions will be poor in any case with a fresh S/SE wind.
Come Sunday there'll be a tiny mix of easing S/SE swell with a small increase in NE windswell during the afternoon under freshening E/NE winds.
Longer term (Dec 23 onwards)
Heading into next week, small levels of E'ly windswell are expected across the coast, generated by a weak surface trough sitting in the Southern Tasman Sea. Winds will be onshore Monday, but Tuesday should see morning offshores as the trough drifts east.
Longer term there's nothing major on the cards, but we'll review this again on Friday.
