Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Monday 30th December)
Best Days: Tuesday morning, Thursday afternoon in protected spots, Friday morning, Sunday morning
Recap
The weekend started out tiny with a clean and tiny 1ft of swell but heading into Sunday a medium sized W/SW swell filled in as a deep and powerful low moved under us. Conditions were good in protected locations during the morning with a fresh W/NW breeze ahead of a swing to the W/SW during the afternoon.
The swell has eased back into today with fun 2-3ft waves left across Clifton with morning W/NW winds. The swell should continue to ease into the afternoon as winds remain favourable.
This week (Dec 30 – Jan 3)
The swell will continue to ease through tomorrow, but the morning should still reveal a fun 2ft of W/SW swell.
Wednesday will become tiny as winds swing N'ly favouring more exposed locations.
This should kick up a 3-4ft of W/SW swell later Thursday but conditions will be average with a strong W/NW tending W/SW breeze.
The swell will drop away rapidly into Friday though as the system continues off to the east Thursday evening.
The morning should still offer 2-3ft waves under all day W/NW winds.
This weekend onwards(Jan 4 onwards)
Saturday will start out slow but a much weaker version of Thursday's front will push up into us during the day, kicking up a late increase in W/SW swell to 1-1.5ft before peaking at 1-2ft Sunday morning.
Beyond this we may see some more significant swell next week, but we'll review this again on Wednesday.
