Recap

Yesterday started off slow with some new S'ly swell starting to show across the coast. Today though a much better pulse of S/SE swell came in at 2-3ft across the region under light morning winds.

This week (Jan 9 -10)

The mid-latitude low responsible for yesterday's and today's S/SE swell has moved off slowly towards New Zealand while continuing to aim a fetch of S/SE winds towards us.

This will result in a slow drop in S/SE tending SE swell across open beaches the next couple of days.

Get in early tomorrow as winds will be favourable for spots picking up the most size before a fresh NE'ly kicks in.

Friday will see N/NE winds during the morning creating poor conditions but bringing with it a NE windswell for the afternoon.

This weekend onwards (Jan 11 - 12)

There's nothing major on the cards for the weekend with a tiny easing NE windswell Saturday and a tiny mix of swells Sunday.

A small spike in S'ly swell is due on Monday as a cold front skirts up past our coast and N'ly winds will favour spots open to the swell.

Longer term there's nothing significant except small levels of NE windswell into the end of next week.
