Victoria Forecast (issued Monday 13th January)
Best Days: Tuesday morning, Wednesday and Thursday mornings east of Melbourne
Recap
A moderate increase in W/SW swell due over the weekend looked to have come in under expectations but conditions were poor in any case with onshore winds all weekend.
Today a better pulse of SW groundswell has come in with good 3ft waves around Torquay, 3-5ft sets at 13th Beach and 6ft waves on the Mornington Peninsula under a light variable wind.
This week (Jan 14 - 17)
Today's SW groundswell was generated by a vigorous mid-latitude low that pushed in from the west over the weekend and has since moved off across Tassie.
We will accordingly see a drop in size through tomorrow and further Wednesday as winds remain favourable for both coasts tomorrow and go more variable Wednesday morning.
There's nothing significant for the rest of the week besides a small and inconsistent long-range W/SW groundswell that will mainly affect the Mornington Peninsula on Friday, but winds will be average and from the W/NW.
This weekend onwards (Jan 18 onwards)
Unfortunately winds look poor for this swell again with onshore S/SW winds Saturday and SW winds on Sunday.
Longer term a new SW swell is on the cards for the middle of next week, but we'll keep an eye on this.
