Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Wednesday 22nd January)
Best Days: Thursday morning, Saturday morning, Sunday
Recap
Tiny waves were seen yesterday morning but a late pulse in SW swell should have been seen as an intense mid-latitude moved across us. This swell peaked this morning to a fun 2-3ft across Clifton with light offshore winds. Sea breezes have since developed and the swell should of eased a touch creating average conditions.
This week (Jan 23 -24)
Due to the rapid movement of the mid-latitude responsible for today's swell to the east, a rapid drop in size is expected from this morning's peak. Still there should be some small 1-2ft waves left across Clifton tomorrow under favourable W/NW tending variable winds.
Come Friday tiny waves should continue with offshores ahead of an afternoon change.
This weekend onwards (Jan 25 onwards)
This swell should peak in the 2-3ft range across Clifton Saturday morning. Winds are also looking favourable with an early W/NW'ly ahead of S/SW winds into the afternoon.
The swell should drop slowly through Sunday but under more favourable NW tending NE winds.
Heading into next week there's nothing major on the cards besides inconsistent levels of W/SW groundswell. This should keep more exposed coasts busy though all week.
