Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 22nd January)
Best Days: Thursday at south swell magnets, Friday at north-east swell magnets, Sunday at south swell magnets
Recap
Tiny surf was seen through yesterday, while today started off slow, but a fresh pulse of S'ly swell should of filled in during the day related to a strong mid-latitude low moving offshore early this morning.
This week (Jan 23 -24)
The mid-latitude low linked to today's swell has moved off quickly to the east and as a result a sharp drop in size is expected overnight.
Still south facing beaches should offer the odd set under favourable N'ly winds.
Come Friday a small increase in NE windswell is expected from the Southern NSW coast but to no major size and winds should be offshore for most of the day.
This weekend onwards (Jan 25 onwards)
Small pulse of S'ly windswell and then groundswell are expected across the coast over the weekend as a polar front pushes up past us but to no major size. Saturday will be onshore in any case and Sunday will offer cleaner conditions with N/NW winds.
Heading into next week there's nothing too major on the cards besides small levels of NE windswell and longer-range NE trade-swell. We'll review this again on Friday though.
