Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Thursday 23rd January)
Best Days: Friday morning, Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning
Recap
Tuesday saw good waves across most regions with a new SW groundswell and morning offshores. This swell eased off slowly through yesterday and further today with less than favourable S/SE winds.
A new SW swell is expected to build through this afternoon as winds persist from the S'th.
This week and weekend (Jan 24 - 26)
This afternoon's increase in SW groundswell should hold into tomorrow morning, but there won't be much size about besides the South West and Geraldton regions. Winds should be good and better than today with a fresh offshore E/SE'ly during the morning.
The weekend won't offer to much in the way of size, with exposed coasts on Saturday the go with morning offshore E/NE winds while poor S'ly winds are due Sunday.
Next week onwards (Jan 25 onwards)
An initial system that's well to our west-south-west today will produce a fun pulse for Monday, but a stronger increase in SW swell is due Tuesday as a secondary and much better aligned system races in from the west and generates a fetch of SW gales directly to our south-west on Monday (pictured right).
This swell should peak in the 4-5ft range in the South West, 1-2ft in Perth and 3-4ft up around Gero.
Winds will be OK but not great and fresh from the SE each morning favouring slightly protected locations.
