Northern NSW and South East Queensland Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 27th January)
Best Days: Every day in protected spots
Recap
The weekend started off slow but a strong cold front pushing up the coast later Saturday bought with it a moderate to large increase in S'ly swell across south swell magnets on the North Coast Sunday morning.
This swell has eased back through today, as building levels of E'ly trade-swell have become more dominant.
This week (Jan 28 - 31)
A tropical cyclone is expected to form off the Northern Qld coast named Dylan over the coming days and this will aim stronger winds into Sunny Coast resulting in the most size, with smaller waves further down into Northern NSW and the Mid North Coast. TC Dylan will move inland later in the week sometime, with a slow drop in trade-swell expected once it does.
Winds will be fresh from the E/SE for the most part, better further south so protected bays and points will offer the best waves.
This weekend onwards (Feb 1 onwards)
The trade-swell is expected to continue to ease into the weekend as the easterly ridge weakens slightly, but we'll continue to see plenty of activity into next week with another tropical low possibly forming over towards New Zealand.
