Victoria Forecast (issued Wednesday 29th January)
Best Days: Thursday morning, Saturday morning, Sunday morning, possibly early Monday
Recap
The surf was tiny and clean across the Surf Coast yesterday morning while exposed beaches east of Melbourne and other exposed spots offered the best waves under the stiff N'ly wind. A late onshore change was seen across the state bringing down temperatures while creating poor surf into today with a small increase in long-range W/SW groundswell.
This week (Jan 30 - 31)
Today's small increase in W/SW groundswell will be reinforced by a stronger increase tomorrow, generated by more favourable mid-latitude frontal activity under the country.
A peak is expected tomorrow afternoon to 3ft on the Surf Coast and 5-6ft on the Mornington Peninsula under E'ly tending SE winds favouring semi-protected spots.
The swell should ease slowly Friday but conditions will be average with a weak S/SE breeze.
This weekend onwards (Feb 1 onwards)
Winds should be favourable and from the E/NE during Saturday morning while E/SE sea breezes are due into the afternoon. Sunday looks fun with a light variable wind ahead of a shallow S'ly change.
Monday morning may offer a brief period of good conditions with a variable breeze ahead of a much stronger S/SE change.
Further into next week, a long-range W/SW groundswell that's expected to arrive later Monday should peak Tuesday but winds look dicey and most likely fresh from the E/SE.
Beyond this there's nothing to major on the cards so make the most of the small windows of favourable conditions through the coming period.
