Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 24th February)
Best Days: Tuesday and Friday morning at south swell magnets
Recap
The weekend saw various pulses of S'ly groundswell owing to a strong mid-latitude low moving offshore followed by a follow up polar front moving through our swell window. Winds were generally favourable for locations picking up the most size and offshore.
Today we fell in between pulses and winds were average and from the S'th.
This week (Feb 24 - 28)
Remaining beaches are expected to be tiny due to the acute S'ly nature of the swell.
Winds will be good for locations picking up the swell and from the northern quadrant all day as the swell slowly eases.
Mid-week there's nothing major expected small lines from the NE under strengthening offshore winds.
Another polar frontal progression pushing up on the edge of our swell window Wednesday and Thursday should produce a moderate increase in S'ly groundswell Friday morning. Winds look favourable as well, swinging W/NW during the morning ahead of light NE sea breezes.
This weekend onwards (Mar 1 onwards)
Unfortunately there's nothing major on the cards for us into the weekend. Into next week though we may see some better NE windswell developing down the coast as a strong and broad high pressure system slowly drifts in from the west. We'll review this Wednesday.
