Yesterday started off slow and small but a new swell built gradually during the day ahead of a much larger pulse today which has come in at 3ft+ across Clifton with offshore W/NW winds providing a few options across the coast.

Winds and swell are still holding strong but we should see this swell drop noticeably overnight, so make the most of this evening.

This week and weekend (Mar 19 - 23)

As touched on above, the swell will drop considerably overnight with an easing 2ft+ of swell due tomorrow but under favourable N/NW tending variable winds.

The end of the week is looking poor with a tiny swell ahead of a strong S'ly change that will bring an increase in windswell with it for the afternoon.

A better SW groundswell is due to peak on Saturday morning to 2-3ft across Clifton, generated by a strong polar low that's currently south of WA, but winds look to unfortunately linger from the S/SW, with a good chance for an early W'ly.

Sunday will be cleaner but the swell will be small and only in the 1-2ft range.

Next week onwards (Mar 24 onwards)

With the Long Wave Trough moving over towards New Zealand over the weekend we'll see polar frontal activity steered up more favourably through our swell window and right below us.

This will produce a series of 2-3ft SW groundswells for Monday and Tuesday with smaller surf into the end of the week, but winds will accordingly be a little average due to the close proximity of each front.

Early Monday should be clean and fun with W/NW winds, with all day W/NW winds Tuesday.

Into the following weekend and beyond there's nothing major on the cards, so make the most of the current swell.
