The Rearview Mirror

Recently while flicking through a Surfing World magazine from August 1967 I came across this colourful advertisement (click enlarge for full perineum-popping effect).

It's an ad that invites so many questions, such as: 'were budgerigars smaller in 1967?' and 'was the fellow responsible for the testicle separation in number 4 able to procreate?' But perhaps the most pertinent question is 'who the fuck wore them?'

Any of you old blokes out there willing to own up? Still got a pair perhaps?

Which leads us to the last question: with young surfing hipsters strip-mining the past, resurrecting everything from Raybans to beaver tails, will these li'l numbers get another moment in the sun? Admittedly, they're not without their benefits. Great for tanning your upper thighs and the models with buckles would be a hit in the clubs. Best of all, you can let them do the talking for you: there'll be no secrets while you're in a pair.

can someone please write another "rearview mirror" article so we don't have to be assaulted with this image every time we scroll down the SWELLNET site? I'm developing a nervous tic.

Hey Stu, any chance of looking in the mirror again so we don't have to keep checking this dudes shorts? Me thinks they have been on display a bit long now (:
