Friday looked the biggest, while Saturday would see better winds as the swell eased.
Forecasts filed, car packed, and it was time to do a quick dash out of Adelaide. They were stepping off into 6ft bombs that were throwing as wide as they were tall onto a dangerously shallow sandbank.
