BP Exploration Drilling in Great Australian Bight

I have recently returned from the Eyre Peninsular and was extremely concerned to hear that BP are to start exploration drilling in the Great Australia Bight. Oil wells in this area could potentially have devestating impact to the entire southern region of Australia from WA to Tasmania including SA and Victoria.

I am amazed that this has not been a prominant media topic in my home state of Victoria and would like to raise awareness Australia wide including particularly in the Southern States. BP have a poor environmental record with recent operations in the Gulf of Mexico resulting in a devestating spill in April 2010.

BP have information regarding their planned operations posted on their website (google BP drilling Great Australia Bight). If you would like to raise concerns or have questions, BP is taking enquiries. However, also raising your issues/concerns with your local MP or media outlets could be a catalyst for debate and action. This is my next move.
