South Australian Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 1st November)
Apologies for the computer model forecast downtime, we're battling some gremlins in the system but hope to have it back ASAP
This weekend (Nov 2-3)
Saturday morning will be the only chance to score a clean wave across the Fleurieu Peninsula over the weekend. And in saying this you won't be surfing on the Mid, but rather at the exposed beaches around Victor Harbor.
Only a small amount of leftover swell is expected, coming in at 1-2ft across Middleton, with bigger and more consistent 2ft waves at Waits and the odd rarer 3ft set. With the W/NW breeze Middleton and Waits will be the pick before a strengthening SW change moves through. Sunday will be a write off as a strong cold front pushes into the south-east of the country. This will kick up a moderate windswell later Sunday but with no real quality.
Next week (Nov 4-8)
Monday will start off average with an onshore E/SE wind across the South Coast as a ridge of high pressure moves in behind the weekend's change. There'll be plenty of S/SW swell from the weekend's front but no quality and the Mid Coast will be effectively flat.
Tuesday is worth a trip down to the South Coast as winds swing NE creating good surf at Goolwa and Parsons with a mix of dropping S/SW swell and new SW groundswell to 3ft.
The end of the week will be a write off as a surface trough and building high pressure ridge move in, bringing an onshore S/SE change.
Longer term (Nov 9 onwards)
The strong blocking high moving in from the west later next week will put a block on our main swell windows while also aiming poor SE winds across the state into next weekend.
