Victoria Forecast (issued Monday 11th November)
Best Days: Friday morning west of Melbourne
Recap
Besides a short-lived period of W'ly winds around Torquay Saturday morning the surf was a write off across most of the state all weekend. This morning a touch more east in the wind has opened up more options east of Melbourne for keen surfers.
This week (Nov 11-15)
Our run of poor conditions will continue well into this week. This will be related to a strong ridge of high pressure in the Bight being squeezed by a low in the Tasman Sea, directing poor SE swinging SW winds across the state with no real swell. Early Wednesday should see W/NW winds on the Surf Coast but there won't be any decent size.
A long-range and very inconsistent W/SW groundswell is due Thursday but this will be overshadowed by a localised S/SW windswell. Friday morning will see more favourable W/NW winds early with the Surf Coast beachies offering the best waves.
This weekend and longer term (Nov 16 onwards)
Another high will move into the Bight later this week and over the weekend directing average winds across the state and also putting a block on our major swell windows. Some new S/SW swell is on the cards for next week from a polar frontal activity skirting around the southern flank of the high but we'll look at this again on Wednesday.
