Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Friday 15th November)
Best Days: Early Thursday, early Sunday, Monday morning
Recap
Small waves with onshore winds have continued the last day, but we'll see cleaner conditions develop over the weekend.
This weekend (Nov 16-17)
While cleaner surf is expected over the weekend, there won't be much in the way of swell until Sunday when we should see Clifton building to 2ft. This will be the fore-runners of a new SW swell that's expected to peak Monday to 2-3ft across Clifton (above model forecasts).
As touched on above, a peak in SW swell is due Monday to 2-3ft across Clifton generated by a favourably aligned polar front moving through our swell window over the coming two days (pictured right).
Winds will be great and offshore Monday so try and aim for a surf then. Tuesday will be good as well as the swell eases under morning offshores ahead of a W/SW change.
Longer Term (Nov 21 onwards)
A surface trough moving in from the west is forecast to intensify while passing across us mid-late next week and this may kick up some new S'ly swell. Winds with this swell look to be onshore at this stage, but we'll look at this again on Monday.
