Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 16th December)
Best Days: Wednesday morning in protected spots, Thursday morning, Friday morning
Recap
A new SW groundswell filled in on Saturday offering fun waves in the South West with offshore winds, while Perth saw tiny clean waves. Today the swell has dropped away again with the Margaret River region offering the only decent size under fresh SE winds.
This week (Dec 17 - 20)
Our fun W/SW groundswell is still on track for the coming period, building through tomorrow before peaking Wednesday.
This swell generated late last week and over the weekend should peak in the 4-5ft range Wednesday morning around Margs with 2ft sets in Perth and 3ft to occasionally 4ft waves around Gero.
Winds will be less than perfect though and from the S/SE Wednesday morning, with Thursday offering more favourable SE winds around Margs and Perth as S/SE winds persist up at Gero.
This weekend (Dec 21 – 22)
There's nothing major on the cards for this weekend with the surf becoming tiny Sunday under E/SE winds. Longer term we may see a fun new W/SW groundswell arriving Christmas afternoon before easing Thursday but this is a long way down the track.
