Victoria Forecast (issued Monday 16th December)
Best Days: Thursday morning, Sunday morning for keen surfers
Recap
A slow decline in size continued through yesterday and further today, with light onshores yesterday and E'ly winds into today, favouring locations east of Melbourne.
This week and weekend (Dec 19 - 22)
A slight kick in inconsistent SW groundswell is expected across the state tomorrow, peaking during the morning under local offshores across most of the state. Make the most of this swell and wind combo as there's nothing too major beyond this.
The swell will ease into Friday with a background SW groundswell keeping small waves hitting most regions and a variable breeze at dawn is expected to give way to a strong S'ly change during the morning.
This will be related to a surface trough moving across us, with a weak windswell expected to be generated for Saturday from this system.
The windswell should swing more SE into Sunday morning due to strong winds from the E/SE Saturday afternoon and evening, easing from 2ft across the Surf Coast. Conditions should improve though with a light variable wind, but the swell will be weak.
Next week (Dec 23 onwards)
Next week will start off slow but small levels of SW groundswell are expected from Christmas Day onwards, likely peaking through Friday. Winds look to be generally from the east, but we'll confirm this on Friday.
