Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Monday 23rd December)

Recap

The weekend started off average and tiny, but a new swell build through Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning offered fun and clean 1-2ft waves with an early light E/NE breeze.

The swell dropped during the day and back to a tiny 0.5-1ft today.

This week (Dec 24 - 27)

The surf will remain tiny tomorrow, but a fun W/SW groundswell is expected to fill in Christmas Day and peak during the afternoon. This is being generated by a strong polar low to our west (pictured right) and should reach 2ft across Clifton.

Winds will be good during the morning with an offshore N/NW'ly ahead of variable breezes into the afternoon.

The rest of the week looks tiny, as a new W/SW swell for Friday is formed too far north for us and comes in at 1ft or so.

This weekend (Dec 28 – 29)

Saturday will remain tiny, but a new SW swell is expected to build through Sunday, but conditions look poor with fresh to strong SW winds. Beyond this there's nothing major on the cards, but we'll review this Wednesday.
