Victoria Forecast (issued Friday 27th December)
Best Days: Saturday morning, Monday and Tuesday mornings west of Melbourne, Wednesday in both regions
Recap
Wednesday's pulse of SW groundswell held into Thursday morning under early light N'ly winds before a fresh to strong S/SW change moved through during the day.
This change has lingered into today creating poor conditions but a new W/SW swell has also filled in offering plenty of waves across the state.
This weekend onwards (Dec 28 onwards)
Today's W/SW swell will ease through tomorrow and conditions should be great across exposed spots across the state with a morning N/NE wind. A strong W/SW change is due during the mid-late afternoon though creating poor conditions.
A mix of new W/SW groundswell and short-range SW swell is due to build through Sunday as a deepening cold front/low forms right off our door step.
The swell should build Sunday, peak during the afternoon and then ease gradually through Monday.
Conditions will remain poor on Sunday though with a fresh to strong SW'ly, while Monday morning should see morning W/NW winds around Torquay, W/SW everywhere else.
The swell should continue to ease into the the middle of the week with W'ly winds Tuesday and more favourable N/NE winds for the Mornington Peninsula Wednesday morning.
Besides a small to moderate W/SW swell for later Wednesday and Thursday there's nothing major on the cards until the weekend with a better W/SW swell may fill in. Longer term, a larger SW groundswell is on the cards for Sunday/Monday but we'll review this again this coming Monday.
