Northern NSW and South East Queensland Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 1st January)
Best Days: No great days
Recap
Happy New Year! Small levels of S'ly swell have persisted across the North Coast the two days, while the Goldy and Sunny Coast have been tiny.
This week (Jan 2 – Jan 3)
There's nothing major on the cards for the rest of the week with the S'ly swell expected to fade under winds from the northern quarter.
This weekend onwards (Jan 4 onwards)
A junky NE windswell will be seen Saturday morning ahead of a gusty SE change linked to a weak cold front pushing up the NSW coast. This will kick up a small windswell Sunday but with poor SE winds.
The longer term is more interesting with a series of strong cold fronts expected to be aimed through our swell window generating good pulses of S'ly swell next week. Beyond this we may see the first tropical developments of the year into the following weekend/week but we'll continue to keep a close eye on this.
