Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued 2nd January)
Best Days: Friday and Saturday mornings in protected spots, Sunday morning, Monday morning, Thursday.
Recap
Conditions the last couple of days have been a little average with an easing swell through Tuesday that steadied Wednesday and is a touch smaller again today. Fresh onshore winds have developed in Margaret River this morning and should move further up the coast as the day progresses.
This Friday and weekend (Jan 3 – Jan 5)
Today's shallow change is linked to a stronger frontal progression that has generated a medium to large W/SW groundswell for tomorrow. This swell should peak during the middle of the day in the South West and later further north under S/SE tending SW winds.
The swell will ease into the weekend but winds will unfortunately linger from the S/SE Saturday with more favourable SE winds Sunday morning as a reinforcing SW swell fills in, steadying the easing trend.
Next week onwards (Jan 6 onwards)
The week will start off slow with small-moderate levels of SW swell and offshore winds Monday ahead of an increasing onshore breeze Tuesday.
Longer term another solid swell is due late in the week but we'll review this in the next update.
