Victoria Forecast (issued Friday 10th January)
Best Days: Monday morning east of Melbourne, Tuesday morning
Recap
Semi-protected beaches east of Melbourne offered fun waves yesterday with a mix of easing SW groundswell and peaky SE windswell to 3ft. The Surf Coast saw average 2-3ft waves that eased during the day.
Today a mix of fading SE windswell and long-range SW groundswell is coming in at 1-2ft across the Surf Coast and 3ft on the Mornington Peninsula under offshore winds. These winds will swing W'ly during the afternoon favouring the Surf Coast.
This weekend (Jan 11 - 12)
A moderate pulse of W/SW groundswell is expected to fill in across the state tomorrow but conditions will unfortunately be average as a weak onshore change moves through early morning resulting in light to moderate SW winds across both coasts.
These onshore S/SW winds will then persist Sunday from the S/SW as the W/SW groundswell slowly eases.
Next week (Jan 13 onwards)
Tuesday will provide much better waves on the Surf Coast as winds swing locally offshore with a small easing, but fun SW swell.
There's nothing major on the cards for the rest of next week, with a new SW groundswell expected for the following weekend, but this may be mixed in with a poor SE windswell. We'll review this again on Monday.
