Recap

Saturday was average with a mix of NE windswell and S/SE windswell from an overnight change leaving north-east swell magnets with OK waves during the morning. Come Sunday the SE swell was more dominant but again onshore winds created average conditions.

Today a small and inconsistent SE groundswell should of filled in with light morning offshores.

This week (Jan 21 -24)

The surf will become tiny to flat tomorrow morning, but a long-range and inconsistent NE groundswell is expected to arrive later in the day, generated by Tropical Cyclone June.

This swell will likely peak overnight or early Wednesday morning to an inconsistent 2ft+ across the coast. A new S'ly groundswell should also be in the mix though Wednesday morning, generated by an intense mid-latitude low moving across as Tuesday evening and aiming a fetch of strong to gale-force S/SW winds through our swell window.

This should peak at 3ft+ across south facing beaches under morning W'ly tending variable winds.

Both swells should then ease steadily into Thursday under NW tending N/NE winds.

This weekend onwards (Jan 25 onwards)

There's nothing too major on the cards for this weekend besides a small increase in S'ly swell Sunday as a cold front pushes up through the entrance to the Southern Tasman Sea.
