Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 20th December)
Best Days: Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning, Friday morning
Recap
The strong swell seen at the end of last week eased off steadily into the weekend ahead of a small reinforcing W/SW swell Sunday with good winds around Perth and Gero, while Margs saw less favourable SE winds.
Today the swell bottomed out, although Gero continued to offer fun waves with offshore winds.
This week (Jan 21 -24)
A late increase in new SW groundswell is expected across the coast ahead of a peak tomorrow, generated by a broad but relatively weak polar frontal progression later last week and over the weekend.
This should be met with offshore E/SE winds creating fun waves across exposed spots around the state.
A slow drop in size is then expected on Wednesday as offshore winds continue.
Another small to medium sized SW groundswell is due through Thursday and Friday but to no major size and with less favourable S/SE winds on the former and E/SE winds on the later.
This weekend onwards (Jan 25 onwards)
There's nothing major on the cards for the weekend but into next week we may see some more considerable SW groundswell developing for the state. Check back here on Wednesday for the latest on all of this though.
