Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Monday 24th February)
Best Days: Tuesday morning, Friday morning, Saturday morning, Sunday afternoon at exposed spots
Recap
The weekend provided plenty of waves, with Sunday being a stand out with a good 3ft+ or so of groundswell and all day offshore winds.
This morning Clifton was still picking up 2-3ft sets with the arrival of a new SW groundswell and there's plenty more swell to come.
This week (Feb 24 - 28)
Tomorrow morning looks great, with today's pulse in SW groundswell expected to ease from 2ft to nearly 3ft early under offshore N/NW winds. A late shift to the W/NW is expected, but this should keep things clean.
Wednesday should be slated down as a lay day as we fall in between swells and winds strengthen from the W/NW.
Thursday looks good for a solid increase in SW groundswell all owing to the Long Wave Trough.
A peak is expected Thursday afternoon to 3-4ft across Clifton as winds unfortunately swing fresh onshore from the SW. Friday morning will offer much better waves with a dropping swell from 3ft or so under offshore NW winds.
This weekend onwards (Mar 1 onwards)
Saturday will offer small clean waves but heading into Sunday a long-range and very inconsistent SW groundswell is expected. We'll look at this in more detail on Wednesday though.
