Well, there goes my morning - replying to the dozens and dozens of people who have emailed to let me know that there's a problem with the surfcams today.
Should have told them that due to a previously unknown worm hole that the earth had just passed through, we are now living in a parallel universe, hence the reversed images!!!And to vontact NASA for further updates!!!!!

Me: "What's the date?"
Ryan: "Today. Since you set up Jeep dash"
Me: "What's the date?"
Ryan: "Today’s date??"
Me: "Yes, what is today's date?"
Ryan: "Sorry April 1st. You guys taking the piss?"

Full disclosure: you had me a bit perplexed with the Byron cam when I woke up this morning and was looking at it half-asleep.

Just finished an email exchange with Greg in Perth, who is our new winner:
Greg: "Full Screen Scarborough Beach surf cam is reversed in full screen mode. also, what is that annoying jeep cam"
Me: "What's the date?"
Greg: "date is today. Is only full screen mode. lastest version of firefox. I checked margaret river to and that is the same"

Me: "What's the date?"
Greg: "01, march 8.14 am"
Greg: "actually, its in normal mode too."
Me: "Sorry, what was the date?"
Greg: "the live surf cam right now is reversed. I am looking at it as i type this. I am using firefox on a pc."
Me: "Greg, what's today's date?"
Greg: "haha. im not a mystic."
Me: "Greg, can you please confirm today's date for me?"
Greg: "1st of april"
Me: "Well done!"
Greg: "cheers man. hopefully that annoying jeep will be gone tomorrow. enjoy your day."
Been a while since I last saw that nice little right breaking into Middleton Bay like that. Like checking the surf in the rear view mirror.
Social Media commentary has taken the cake though.
We reversed our Byron Bay surfcam, announced it on Facebook as a brand new surfcam "remote lefthand point in NSW that looks a lot like The Pass at Byron, but it ain't", and then got abused for exposing secret spots.
Was nearly going to point out to you guys this morning that something didn't seem quite right with the Middleton Surf Cam ,swell seemed to becoming in from a strange angle?Then it dawned on me what the date was & that all the cams were the same.Betcha it caught a few people out
