good highlight reel. usually it shows a bunch of clips in no particular order and you can't figure out who got through and who didnt!
The whole Triple Crown has been a huge leap forward in production values and content delivery. Each site (Reef Hawaiin Pro, World Cup etc.) has an abundance of short clips, highlight reels, important interviews and whatnot.
If only they'd do something about GT...
Yep, like give him autonomous control over the entire commentary booth. I'm thinking, GT live and unplugged.
GT's ok.
Couldn't be any worse than Rosie Hodge or Jason Shibata.
Agree, production values are right up.
Does Rosie talk ????????? :)
I really don't mind any of them, past and present. GT probably the worst and a lot of repetition from the likes of Pottz (all the rest do it though), but we're getting a free service (there is advertising I know) after all.
One thing I've recently noticed amongst commentators is that the Americans (Turpel, Stansfield), for all their shortcomings, are more impartial than the Australians who wind up in the booth.
Maybe it's the professionalism they bring to the act but they don't get behind their countrymen the way a certain few commentators do. The English speaking webcast is watched by the whole English speaking surf community - not just Australians - so shout outs to 'the boys' or using inner sanctum nicknames will alienate many viewers.
Hell, I'm an Australian and it grates on me.
hoyo should be a fixture on the commentator panel.
Agreed @stunet, commentators shouldn't be telling stories like 'I was just texting Parko the other day and...'. Needs to be some delineation.
agreed on the impartialness and level of professionalism from the americans… however, the fake smiley hollywood cheesy douche factor of turpel and Kline grates on me more… some of the australians do it too but turpel and kline are like defective ken dolls that came to life and got hooked on happy pills… but that seems to be the norm with most american sportscasters… I think Dorian is really good, sure he's an insider who drops unimpartial comments and info etc but he obviously knows his shit and seems to be pretty genuine. Maybe they could get him on board more often… though i guess he wouldn't want to have commitments that could mean he missed xxl swells.
Roy and HG would be entertaining.
That would be gold, but I reccon most of it would go straight over their heads.
Rabbit would have to be one of the most biased when they get him in.
The only time I feel like I learn something is when Kelly is in there.
Get the Merewether crew together: Hoyo, Egan and Andrew Johns
ross williams should be a permanent fixture. gt is a dick. wouldn't mind a crack at it myself. could think of a couple of worse jobs to do
