The best video footage from the North Pacific

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

The North Pacific Ocean is currently coloured up with an extended run of swell. The first swell hit last Friday in Hawaii, the second swell on Sunday, and the third swell is hitting the North Shore as I type. It's expected to peak tonight as one of the largest swells of the past decade (read a Swellnet article on the swell). Unfortunately bad winds also arrived with the swell so there's no surfing in Hawaii till tomorrow. What happens when it hits the US mainland remains to be seen, yet the organisers of the Mavericks Invitational have green-lighted the event for this Friday (Saturday Australian time).

Here are the best videos so far. Footage has been gathered from Waimea Bay, Peahi (Jaws), Mavericks, and Nelscott Reef. Check back for more videos as the current swell hits and the footage gets uploaded

Nelscott Reef, Oregon, 19/01. Good footage.

Waimea Bay, 19/01. Mid-range Wammy with crowds a'plenty, among them John John, Makua, and Jamie Sterling. Great wipeout at 54 second mark.

Peahi 19/01. Excellent Drone/UAV aerial footy.

Jamie O'Brien, only one wave but he shows brilliant subtlety on a mid-face bottom turn riding a 10 foot gun.

Three great barrels from Sunday 19/01 at Peahi.

Jaws, 19/01. Good footy, dodgy music

Shaun Walsh, Jaws 19/01, XXL Ride of the year entry

Billy Kemper, Jaws 19/01, XXL Ride of the year entry

Early footage Mavs 21/01.

First light at Waimea 22/01, closed out washing machine.

Aaron Gold this morning, 23/01, at Jaws. An incredible paddle wave and you've gotta wonder if he'd hung on whether he would've made the barrel.

Wipeout footage from Jaws 19/01. The clean up set at 0:45 is gruesome.

What's the latest news? Is it still hitting huge or has it dropped back to a mere 20 odd feet?

we have all been over the falls on a 6 footer .........but tashnick fuck.....had a second to think about the coming flogging with a 10ft board very close by.
noticed healy had no cut outs in his rashie for the pull cords to inflate his vest...others cut slits and poked them through for easy grabbing.

That Shawn Dollar wipeout is amazing to watch. Gutsy drop and then just spears directly into the middle of the blizzard.
10/10 for attempting the drop and giving us that to watch.

The operator absolutely nails this footage of Dane Reynolds and co. blazing at perfect Rincon. Def worth a watch.

And drone footage of Honolua Bay. Ain't the greatest quality but it gives an good overview of the break.

the mavs comp ran , big event that one . twiggy is really on a mission . definitely not letting being dropped by his sponsor b/bong affect his status. the thruster fin set up is still worthy in big surf as proven by twig .
