Is the water seriously that cold at the moment in Sydney area that everyone is in steamers?
Seriously, I was surfing around the Ulladulla area [Sth Coast NSW] and was in boardies and wetsuit top. I can't believe how people wear steamers so readily now a days, I guess it's because they fit better. The water is still good, the longer you hold off on the steamer the better your winter will be.
I fully agree with you on this one Gillos. Is that short for Guillotines at Bawley Pt? Love Gillos.

Coming from Noosa in boardies back to Sydney Sunday evening, it was very chilly.
The week before I left we had really warm water, 22-23, but a warm core eddy that brought down the warm water down from the north seemed to have moved away and I think there was some upwelling from Saturday's NE winds. Felt 18 degrees and a bit chilly in a 2mm short-arm.
Was nowhere near as warm as before I left for Noosa.
it got cool for a few days fitz. I surfed in my short arm at dawn and then in boardies before lunch but the arvo mission went back to short arm

I have experienced this in Sydney summer before. It's just funny looking at the photos as with the swell and people in steamers, if you didn't know any better you would think it was winter shots.

The light and the offshore in the first photo is beautiful.
Picture number 8, is that an effect or some sort of camera trickery? It's a smokin' photo.
Not much done to number 8. Bit of colour and light enhance, nothing special. The lighting was pretty amazing that afternoon.
