Dean Morrison and the wave of his life - video
After years on the World Championship Tour Dean Morrison has now set his sights on a new pastime: chasing monsters. Mark Mathews, Ryan Hipwood, and Dean Morrison chased this swell across to Western Australia hoping to score a rare reef six hours south-east of Perth.
The swell was one of the biggest in the last three years. And on a day like this the surfers know that there will be consequences, but the flip side is they could also score the wave of a lifetime

Rode it perfectly. Sitting at the bottom of the wave as it squares up and turning outward, almost square to the wall to match the speed of the water drawing up the face rather than driving off the bottom for speed and trying for a high line. Must take some commitment on those things cause all you would want to do is find the exit! Laurie Towner is a master at it, has displayed this same technique at Chopes on his backhand for years... so good to watch!
Absolutely mind blowing, but you may risk becoming tagged with the dreaded "idoit jetski driver" label ignoring that 5 knot speed limit in the river boys!!!
