Someone on the inside of them before they catch the wave?
25ft. LOL. Redbull let's Dramatize
Ok. Stop burning people for an Internet clip
Not about localism. About etiquette
It's either not complete footage, or he wasn't under for 45 seconds. I assume it's edited. Would be interesting to see the whole unedited version to get a better appreciation for how long he was under.
Fair point. I suppose we were trying to make a point of differentiation between Tuesday's teaser video that used severalcamera angles, and this video which showed one sequence from one camera. I'm equally fascinated in what happens immediately after a wipeoutof this magnitude (i.e. the reaction of the surfer) which is what makes this video so good.
It states at top of page "Mark Mathews' complete and 'unedited' POV vision from The Right." I counted about 25 seconds which is bad enough and way longer than usual. Probably a typo. I've seen the front on shot taken from the channel closer in, the wave looks 3x bigger around 20ft+. Must be a f=3.5mm Wide Angle "focal length" thing?
any proof that they burnt anyone?? how many other skis etc were out there??
and ahh amazing spectacle.....what a view........
Yeah Brutus
Must have been a great spectacle getting cut off by a production crew
Awesome.
Let's do it at 2mile
Oh no , you've worded em up about that. That's right
But I'll tell the world how good they are for doing it somewhere else
It must be edited
Cause that's NOT a 25ft wave.
I know fisheye gopro can obscure it
But that ain't even 15ft.
Locals were calling 10ft.
But let's pump it up because that's what the redbull does to ya
probably 12' high...200 ' thick...the Americans always use a measure of faces....for heights .....so you just 1/2 it....
I never worded up the PC crew........we did all get together and come up with some basic rules......but at the end of the day ...its their call..
s-l you are one massive dikkhead!! Quit ya whining and get ya hand off it! The only locals are the aborigines and the fish and I bet neither have an opinion on the supposed actual size of this wave. When you got footage of yourself doing something like this then send it in and talk it up... Until then - go back under the rock you crawled out from! You just an angry little pretender...
s-l, have a look at the footage taken from the channel, i think you will find its a LOT bigger than 10 foot. And I'm calling that the ski on the inside was a photog/filmer rather than a surfer.
Jelly Flater, Where do you live ?
I don't want to go anywhere near it, if people have the same kind of respect that you expect.
s-l, I'm from that quiet little town... You are a 'traveller' - most are welcome, but you are a loudmouth blow in. We don't need you trying to defend us, you are the one doing the trolling. Every comment of yours is misguided, ill informed and pretty much just plain bullshit. You are the guy that can talk but is never actually out there doing the walk. Thanks for trying to explain the logic behind your blabbing on this site but no one wants an idiot supposedly speaking on their behalf. When it comes down to it, you will always be the guy looking on... Get out there, then your opinion might count for something - you are the only 'out of towner' who is a fool ! Sorry but it's true.
. Get out there, then your opinion might count for something ! Sorry but it's true.[/quote]
Oh. Your opinion counts ^
10ft u say.... You really have had ya hand on it for too long cos u can't see too well at all s-l. Stay at the lookout and keep talking it up! You are a nobody and always will be that's for sure.... 'Um I spoke to someone who told me something and now I know it all...' Keep pretending...
Tim bonython?
Nice try, so close yet so far! I did get some footage though of some wally on the hill - a little man with a big mouth... Pity he can't surf ...
So Jelly Flater
Which one were you out there?
Were you brad Norris. From Collie.
Because I know which one I spoke to.
And he informed me of the above situation.
They were the only 2 locals out there that day.
So unless you are one of those, you weren't out there, and according to you, your opinion doesnt count.
Or are you from Perth, or Collie.
Are you one of the rude people.
Tell us what really happened if this traveller was told a story that didn't match what his weary eyes saw!
s-l, it's time you gave up and moved on buddy. The only thing worse than a gumby on the hill is a gumby name dropper... You have posted a series of comments that are excessively defensive and overly bias to your fruity perception of what actually went down. Nothing worse than a second hand perspective... I never stated I was out there this day, i also did not try and talk down the waves like a typical armchair critic. No one asked you to try and speak on their behalf (supposed locals included). Maybe just keep ya 'stories' to yaself ay...
So your from thaT town?
You were out there? What happened?
If not, according to you, your opinion doesn't count
You're from Perth really aren't you? Or Collie?
My opinion was not on what went down but on YOU. Get it. You are still babbling on like a little kid whining about how someone else's lollies got stolen. You think you have justified things by giving 'your' version of someone else's version of events.... My point being no one here asked for you to constantly clarify or explain something on their behalf. There is great footage - full stop. Don't pretend you are an all important commentator on this wave OR those who surf here, locals or otherwise... Just crawl back down ya little hole coz WE don't appreciate or support any of your input... Thanks for trying, but hey... Let it go little man, I stayed silent on all your dribble since the first vid was posted here - the point is don't try represent anyone who hasn't asked for you to do so... Hahaha... Another pretender, keep driving.
Mark Mathews is pretty much one of my most respected surfers there is and I guess I'l have have to wait till the documentary or whatever but what's with the 'heaviest wipe out bar none', they make it like half his face is missing, and it's just a scratch, 45 seconds is 'edited' to 25 and what makes Mark have such respect is that he came back from basically a wipe out where he thought he would never walk again, it rattled him to the core of who he is as a human being and he come up fighting like no man should bar the bravest of the brave and I'm supposed to buy this 'heaviest bar none' jargon propaganda by not Redbull who we all know are on the cutting edge of extreme sport but a website 'collaboration' by the kings of internet surf porn. I'll stick with Dean and Tom Bonython on this one thanks. No disrespect at all to Mark and Taj. I hope it nets Mark more sponsorship dollars and it makes the world right again cause the man deserves to get paid a lot more than what he does and it's just a pity Redbull wouldn't do it without an ex surfing life editor who is just such an artist he can't call a 'fucken spade a spade, like one Mr Carroll or for that matter Blindboy whoever your real name is.
WE NEED AN ECL FOR DRO, STAT! And don't get it from the South Coast cupboard, we need one straight off of the Shelly Beach shelf!
THAT'S SHELLY BEACH IN QLD YOU DRONGO!
Ahhh....... had one of those fossil memories, way back in the dark time even before mobile phonesI had a mate and his name wasn't morris. All this talk about how brave Mighty Mouse is reminded me of old mate, there was something wrong with old mate you could talk him into anything if you could convince him it would be impressive, s'pose these days he'd have his own youtube show . He then went on to rob banks, loved the rush of sticking a sawn off shotgun in someones face. So I suppose we should be grateful that red bull is keeping people like this off our streets.
Bur then again maybe he is more like a not so close mate that used to sneak up to st kilda and give blow jobs to old men. Like many of the surfing gladiators of today, will do anything for money.
And my point is?............can't remember.
s-l....seems like what you said happened, was not what really happened....hmmm....OK there was a Jetski out there with a couple of the local lads......seems like there was a lot of waves....your story of lack of respect,etc....does not really standup...
have you really spoken to one of the 2 surfers out this day.......or just made up suppositions on what you saw on the video??
at the end of the day Jelly flatter seems to have a reasonable summation of your story about Taj and MM being disrespectful......storm in a tea cup.....and the storm might have been just a lot of hot air rising??
all I know is, is that someone got the music right ..
Keeping it real, pb.
14 minute vid on this session on the Red Bull site.
Thanks for the link Udo enjoyed the footage. Amazing how relaxed Matthews was and how focused he was on Taj in front of him.
Anyone have some reports for today??? Must have been pumping this arvo at the right.
Holy shit Brad Domke recently had a dig at the right on his skimboard.
Wild footage and pic of Mathews and Domke just put up on Stabmag.
