Jack Robinson prepares for Tahiti

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

So li'l Jack is in Tahiti at the behest of his sponsor when a new swell hits the charts. What's a precocious grom to do?

Watch Jack as he hucks himself over a few Polynesian mountains all in the name of preparation.

Farrk, the poor skinny little bugger has a dig hey. Probably should be on an egg diet and lifting some weights though?

stray-gator_2 Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 06:30 pm new

Weak legs but.

seal Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 06:32 pm new

Yeah, sorry Udo, probably threw the bait a bit early hey, but bound to get a bite I reckon.

lostdoggy Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 08:50 pm new

Doesn't like to claim, that kid.
I don't think I could've held it in at that age after barrels like that.

uplift Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 08:51 pm new

Well googed udesless.

'Seal you dumb fucker'

I thought that you'd still be screeching and proving that African Americans and dark skinned people are genetically different than white skinned people unsealed?

seal Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 09:09 pm new

Hook up!

uplift Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 09:29 pm new

Squawk up!

Like I said,

I thought that you'd still be screeching and proving that African Americans and dark skinned people are genetically different than white skinned people unsealed?

Slight bungle... but keep squawking anyway!

seal Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 09:55 pm new

Damn, only a Puffer-Upped fish so I'll have to cut it loose.
Jack certainly has a fearless attitude in some pretty serious waves. Good on the young fella, hope he keeps going with it and doesn't get the big head some of the young stars get.
Gator, I wonder if young Robbo would have made that first wave if his legs were stronger?

southey Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 10:23 pm new

Let him finish growing first .... Then straight to the Gym .
Interestingly , Yadin was a similar child like messiah . Got a little distracted in his early twenties , yet he's got his shit together now and is taking out much higher ranked surfers regularly , especially in SOLID waves .
One thing to worry about for Jack etc , is to make sure they don't get burn out .
If that can be kept at bay , then he can do whatever HE wants . Go the little tackers !!!!

southey Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 10:33 pm new

Interestingly Zen .

Eddie was 9 kg 's too heavy compared to his next heaviest ( and more successful opponent - every opponent was better than him !!!! )

He was 82 kg's ..... Fancy that bigger / stronger , but less elite !!!

uplift Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 10:41 pm new

Go zenner!

'I'm only 46 ,'

yet

'can't get around the lineup as quickly as I used to,'

and I've got a fucked

'niggly shoulder and the occasional gammy knee,'

from all the... from when I... because... well... I used ta... its... ya see...once I...

'Its them farkin somalingtypers again eh!'

Sound great zennsless, when I want to reach and soar like a crippled fucking sloth, I'll give you a buzz... off.

zenagain Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 10:56 pm new

You got my card!

I'm flattered;)

zenagain Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 11:01 pm new

PS, How was your surf today Raptor? Mine was great, bit of swell around here at the moment.

I've surfed 12 out of the last 15 days. Niggly shoulder and all.

Rabbits68 Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 10:47 pm new

Jack is being well looked after by those who count. He will be fine. He's a little ripper!

mehollywood Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 11:32 pm new

Yeah he absolutely rips. All class and already a world class surfer . Really hope it's not people in the industry looking after him !! They don't have the best track record .

uplift Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 11:27 pm new

'You got my card!'

I've always had your number zensless.

46 hey. Real, real good years. Primo time. But, for some, that 'fuck'n niggly shoulder', the crutch so to speak, hey. Shit, a ftness expert/trainer like you should have knocked that one on the head years ago. Not in somatypes weekly? How did it happen again?

zenagain Tuesday, 12 Aug 2014 at 11:40 pm new

Never said I was a fitness trainer.

Don't drink, don't smoke, don't do drugs, gainfully employed and surf every day there's waves.

I'm not doing too badly sunshine.

Niggly shoulder as a result of a massive snowboarding stack.. Doesn't really slow me down, just reminds me from time to time, especially in winter.

6ft tall and 90kg of pure lovin'.

Sending a little bit of that love your way;)

You keep it real now homie.

And besides, this thread is about Jack, how about we get back to that?

uplift Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 01:08 am new

Massive stack hey... funny about that, they usually are, they are pretty common too, always sound better than a small one.

'And besides, this thread is about Jack, how about we get back to that?'

Too bad you didn't think of that before you started your squawkup. Again, pretty common though. I love real, always have, no problems, no niggles.

Fair go! There's only one self-obsessed, deluded and delusional fuckwit here, and it ain't Seal. Don't shoot the piano player.

fitzroy-21 Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 08:12 am new

Absolutely sg2, but he fed the monkey way to early.

Must have been a quiet day and needed some entertainment so through out the lure.

I'd rather take to my eyes with a blunt pencil.

seal Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 06:51 am new

Yep back to Robbo, sorry for the derailment so early and I will try never to go fishing so early in a thread again, unless……..

uplift Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 10:27 am new

There's a good article for you Blindboy, along the lines of Soufle's thoughts. Should kids do dangerous, growth stunting things, like training, ie weight training, or, should they just throw themselves at dry reefs (with 27,000 tons of water lobbing on them scientifically) untrained. One thing is for sure, you wouldn't subject them to be tackled by Pro NFL line backers.

fitzroy-21 Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 09:10 am new

Yeah 'cause an NFL line backer could hold his breath for a 2 wave hold down whilst bouncing across the reef..fucken clown.

Blowin Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 09:32 am new

Untrained ? Start on small barrels , progress to large barrels....and trained.

Rabbits68 Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 09:53 am new

Hey Mehollywood, nah not those types thank goodness. His clan are calling the shots....

mehollywood Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 05:31 pm new

Yeah Rabbits68 , really good to hear that . He has the world at his feet .There's been quite a few young kids with incredible skills in small waves but don't know how many others at his age have
had so much skill and class in waves of consecquence ?

seal Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 02:05 pm new

Yeah burnout from the pressure that some of the sponsor's put on the kids is pretty common as well as the attitude of "I've made it now so I can sit back at watch the money roll in and just go surfing".
That attitude is something quite a few of the kids seem to succumb to, especially if they haven't got someone to keep their feet firmly on the ground and their mind on the game.
It's a shame when you see talented kids get given a good deal and they blow it by not having a serious crack at what there're doing, while others struggle their guts out, put in 100% all the time but don't even get a sniff from the sponsors and then fall by the wayside because they just can't afford to travel to the comps to get the points. ( not saying that is whats happening with Jack, just an observation of what has happened in the past to quite a few other juniors)
I suppose in an ideal world the sponsors would share the money around a little more with the juniors and then look after the ones that have shown they are worthy of the support as they move up through the ranks thereby giving more talented kids a fair go.
It's good that Jack has got the family/industry support and hopefully they can keep him normal with all the pressures around him now and into the future, because he seems to have a lot of talent that will take him a long way if managed properly.

udo Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 05:54 pm new

Young Jack just got play of the day on channel 10 news....showing that awesome chopes footage.

Blinkers off Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 06:13 pm new

Yep Jack has skinny legs

Anyway zen don't drink smoke or do drugs has a job really are you a surfer.
Take a bex for that shoulder and go to bed

zenagain Wednesday, 13 Aug 2014 at 07:59 pm new

Surfed 5 hours straight today in oily glassy, overhead waves. Porbably one of the days of the year. Only things hurting are my eyes. 13 surfs in 16 days, tomorrow looking good too.

Never said I didn't do those things in the past just gotta work to keep my lady in the lifestyle she's grown accustomed to;) It aint too bad, my work gives me the freedom to surf any time I want to.

trippergreenfeet Thursday, 14 Aug 2014 at 11:50 am new

Sat next to young Jack and his old man on a plane a while back, cool young kid and his old man seems to be a steady guiding light.
While Jack may have a skinny set of legs, his balls make for "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts"

3Poles Thursday, 14 Aug 2014 at 01:31 pm new

How would he go at Blacks?

uplift Thursday, 14 Aug 2014 at 04:01 pm new

Probably the biggest hurdle would be fighting his way through the fawning, squealing, fainting, squawking swellnutters.

'Theeeeeeaaaallll... he wooked at meeeeee'

'No he didn't whhhhingingth... he was wooking at mee...
