Roka Puta session of the year - video

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

'Twas the day after the Big Wave World Tour went down in ugly surf at nearby Punta Galea. A few internationals - namely Twiggy and Ramon Navarro - spiced up the Roka Puta lineup which was otherwise full of the Basque Country's best big wave surfers. These are the type of waves the BWWT needs more of.

Magic .....
Natxo you mad dog......pull into a big backhand pit,get flogged and come up claiming as youre about to get another on the head !

Best wave of the day, raced perfectly into that growing section, got the speed to draw out a huge bottom turn and then wrestle that stupid double up pit before he got knocked by the steps.

So sick, the reef was near dry as we has frothing out and about to cop that next one.

The burn on Twiggy was hectic as well, but the section collapsed on itself luckily without the drop-ins help, looked like he was gonna set up a sweet barrel.

As if backhand tuberiding wasn't difficult enough already!

These guys are grabbing rail and arse-dragging 9ft boards on god-knows-what-size waves...

Brutus , Caml.. Given the ultra clean conditions would these rippers been able to charge the waves on shorter boards...im guessing they are on 10 fters or longer would 8 or 8'6 be long enough ?

Natxo - simply some of the best surfing i have seen in a long time, balls and style combined!

How long was the bottom turn on the wave he pulled into? 20 metres? 30? More..? Held it on rail just soooo long without losing speed. Wonderfully subtle surfing.
