XXL?
Just XL perhaps then Bob? The reference was to the regional swell event (which was certainly XXL) althugh the strong westerly component in the direction limited wave heights at regular spots.
Is it me, or is dropping in becoming more and more acceptable?
Not one of those waves was ridden to completion by the surfer on the inside.
Bugger that.
At Jaws also. The heavier the wave the less tolerant I get of drop ins and that's starting from a point of zero acceptance.
Those Israelis sure get around
Ha;)
Ahh, you need to watch North Shore, or that interview with RCJ that year he won the Eddie. RCJ mentions that Waimea is all about the drop. Doesn't matter how many. Jaws looks different. You don't see many drop ins there eh?
yeah not even XL....but clean pretty........from all the footage I have seen of Jaws etc.....very overhyped swell......
Maybe next time Brutus you should call it before it arrives........not after. Good ol hindsight..... :-)
That's Mother Nature for ya........
I spoke to Noah J....3 days out from the ETA from the swell....he already downgraded...but there was still a lot of chatter from the forecasters ...about the size.......amazing how hard it is to forecast Hawaii......and for that matter Vico.......hehehe...
There's been a bit of a pattern of over-calling and over-hyping swells on Swellnet lately.
That can just be the luck of the draw sometimes but I'm sure Ben and Craig and going back and hindcasting to ensure accuracy into the future.
All the same I enjoyed the drone footage. Has anyone seen the daily photos for the Margs report? Check the bottom shot with the roos . Iconic stuff!
Maybe different drop-in rules apply at Waimea.
It is mainly about the drop down the face. There is something nicely old school about the wave sharing there.
Like Greg Noll, Pat Curren & Jose Angel.

How modern is that pig dog stance of Jose Angels?
Noticed a couple of guys going left around the 2 minute mark.
Looked ok too, but that's gotta be rare right?
