Fergal Smith: Mullaghmore paddle mission - video

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

The bad weather clears and Ferg drives through the night for a paddle session at Mullaghmore contemplating whether its extra board length or positioning that helps him to score the bombs at Ireland's most infamous big wave spot.

A bit less crowded than Mundaka, though.

Love seeing this guys adventures. Not sure why you'd bother comparing it to b grade Mundaka? Just enjoy it for what, and where, it is.
Give me that over b grade Mundaka with 150 angry Spaniards any day

this is the best shitt happening in surfing right now.

it's taking the original premise of Morning of the Earth and updating it to the modern world.
It's like that dreadful commercial turn that Townsend/Cairns took when they bought the whole American money thing into surfing never happened.

How cool is Ferg coming out of a paddle session at Mullaghmore and hoeing into his own home-grown tucker. Still reckon I'd be down the pub for a Guiness and pie if it was me though.

The Guiness and pie was off-camera.

And a wee dram to warm those bones.

Great vid, you can see how each wave is so different. Some don't give you an in at all, while others give the perfect launching pad.

Last wave was sweet, double deep barrel.
